Establishment of Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board
The Chief Executive announced in the 2024 Policy Address that the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) will be reconstituted into the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board (HKMPDB). To be chaired by a non-official member and with other members largely from the maritime sector, this high-level advisory body will assist the Government in formulating policies and long-term development strategies. The HKMPDB will be underpinned by dedicated staff and provided with additional funding to enhance its research capabilities, strengthen its Mainland and overseas promotional work and step up manpower training, with a view to supporting the Government in policy implementation more effectively and promoting the sustainable development of Hong Kong's maritime industry.
The HKMPDB has been established on 1 July 2025. Accordingly, this website is renamed under "Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board 香港海運港口發展局" to continue sharing the latest relevant news. Previous content in relation to the former HKMPB will be retained for public retrieval.
Mr Chan is appointed Secretary for Transport and Housing on 1 July 2017. Before assuming this post, Mr Chan was the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services and the General Manager of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Trading Fund since December 2011.
